Knowledge of the baggage policy is key to an effortless trip when flying with Air Corsica. From domestic travel in France to European destinations around the continent, knowing what you can pack, how much it weighs, and what extra costs may be incurred will prevent surprises at the airport. This in-depth guide dissects Air Corsica’s baggage policy so you can be adequately prepared for your Mediterranean getaway.

Air Corsica’s Hold Baggage Policy

Air Corsica has made its checked baggage policy easier by introducing a “piece” system instead of an outright weight system. The number of free checked bags depends on your fare class and route.

Zone 1: Domestic Flights within France

  • Light Fare: No checked baggage is included. Extra baggage can be added when booking.
  • Standard Fare: One checked luggage weighing 23 kg is included
  • Top Fare: Two pieces of checked luggage, each weighing 23 kg, are included
  • Corsican Resident Fare: One bag of checked luggage (23 kg) included. This is doubled to two bags (23 kg each) for students, youth studying on the mainland, or children of divorced parents, one of whom lives on the continent, and the other residing in Corsica
  • Air Corsica Plus Subscriber Fare: Two checked bags (23 kg each) included.

Zone 2: European Flights To and From

  • Light Fare: No checked bag included. Baggage may be added at the time of booking, for which a fare must be paid.
  • Standard Fare: One checked bag (23 kg) included as part of the ticket
  • Top Fare: Two checked bags (23 kg each) included.
  • Air Corsica Plus Subscriber Fare: Two checked pieces (23 kg each) are included.

Special Allowances

Flying Blue Silver, Gold, and Platinum members are offered an extra 23 kg of free baggage on flights from Paris (Orly and Roissy-Charles De Gaulle) to Corsica (Ajaccio, Bastia, Calvi, and Figari).

Air Corsica Hold Baggage Dimensions and Weight Limits

Each piece of free checked baggage in both zones:

  • Should not exceed 158 cm in overall dimensions (height + width + length, including handles, pockets, and wheels)
  • Should not weigh more than 23 kg

In case these thresholds are surpassed, additional baggage fees are charged. Baggage with a weight greater than 32 kg should be carried via Air Corsica’s freight service.

Air Corsica’s Hold Baggage Allowance for Babies

For babies under two years who have not booked a seat Air Corsica has the following allowance:

  • Top and Standard Fares: Inclusive of one 10 kg item, as well as a car seat, “cane stroller,” or fully foldaway pram.
  • Light Fare: Excluding any baggage, except Public Service between Paris-Orly, Marseille, Nice, Calvi, Figari, Ajaccio, and Bastia.

If you’ve reserved a seat for your child, you can bring along a car seat on board if it fits in between the aeroplane seat armrests (up to 42 cm wide). Only undamaged child seats that bear an approval label from the European Union or any other competent authority are allowed.

Air Corsica’s Cabin Baggage Allowance

Cabin or hand baggage is anything you bring onboard instead of checking in. Air Corsica allows one piece of hand luggage and one accessory item per passenger, which might be a handbag, briefcase, camera, small laptop, or something of comparable size. It’s a good idea to label your cabin baggage with address labels, found in airports.

Your main accessory needs to be placed under the seat in front of you unless you are seated beside an emergency exit. In the latter situation, the accessory has to be put away in the overhead bin so as not to obstruct pathways.

Air Corsica’s Cabin Baggage Size and Weight Limitations

Air Corsica flies two primary types of aircraft, and the allowances are slightly different in each of them:

For Airbus A320 planes:

  • Maximum size: 55 cm (length) × 35 cm (width) × 25 cm (depth), with wheels and handles
  • Maximum weight: 12 kg

For ATR 600 aircraft:

  • Maximum size: 56 cm (length) × 44 cm (width) × 25 cm (depth), with wheels and handles
  • Maximum weight: 8 kg

Please be aware that ATR72 flights have restricted cabin storage capacity. The airline can ask you to allow your cabin baggage to be stowed in the hold after a process called “baggage taken and delivered at the foot of the aircraft.” Your baggage will be back with you as soon as the plane lands.

Other Items Allowed in the Cabin

Certain items are not included in your cabin baggage limit but can be carried onboard if space is available. These include:

  • Overcoats, jackets, or any other clothibng which is carried
  • Umbrellas
  • Tax-free shopping purchases onboard or at the airport
  • Special items like foldable strollers (size when folded should not be more than 55 × 35 × 25 cm for A320, or 56 × 44 × 25 cm for ATR 600)
  • Car seats, change bags, medical devices (such as crutches), and pet carriers

Remember that garment bags are usual cabin baggage, not accessories.

What Items Can You Carry In Your Cabin Baggage?

Some items should never leave your cabin baggage due to security or practical considerations:

  • Valuables: keys, cellular phones (switched off in flight), identity documents, critical documents, cash, jewelry, etc.
  • Delicate items like cameras, computer gear (switched off), paintings, china, etc.
  • Essential drugs and medical equipment

Air Corsica Cabin Baggage Rules for Babies

For infants under two years who do not occupy a booked seat, you can carry one item of hand baggage with baby care items. The maximum size is the same as the standard cabin baggage allowance (55 × 35 × 25 cm for Airbus, 56 × 44 × 25 cm for ATR), with weights of 12 kg and 8 kg respectively.

Small collapsible strollers can be taken as cabin luggage if there is enough space; otherwise, they can be checked in without any additional charge.

Air Corsica Liquid Limitations in Cabin Luggage

When you get to security checkpoints, you need to show your plastic bag on its own amongst your other cabin baggage.

Exemptions to Liquid Limits

The items below are excepted from the 100ml limit:

  • Baby food that shall be consumed in course of the flight
  • Medication required during the flight. A  doctor’s certificate or prescription has to be submitted in this regard.
  • Special dietary foods that those on dietary restrictions may have in course of the flight.

Air Corsica’s Rules for Duty-Free Liquid Purchases

Rules for duty-free liquid purchases depend on your trip:

  • For EU/European Union  (Norway, Iceland, and Switzerland) travel: You can buy duty-free liquids at the airport or on board if they are put into a sealed plastic bag with receipts.
  • For travel from a non-European airport with a European connection: Refrain from buying duty-free liquid products outside of the EU or on board because they will be taken away in security checks when you have a connection.

Your permitted baggage allowance is reflected on your e-ticket and travel memo.
